Virginia Department of Forestry (VDOF) has two nurseries, Augusta Nursery in Crimora, VA, and Sussex Nursery in Courtland, VA. Augusta Nursery, located in the mountains of Shenandoah Valley, is the primary nursery for growing hardwood and spruce species. While Sussex Nursery, located in the sandy soils of southeastern Virginia, is the primary nursery for loblolly and longleaf pine.
